Pruned/cleaned the flowerbeds in the front yard. Then took all the 'trash' from them to the burn pile in back.

Made rolled-wheat bread.

Refilled the bird feeders.

Refilled the chlorine tank in the septic system.

Fed cattle & put out more hay.

Watered the starter flats in the greenhouse.

Hung the coat hook shelf and the light in the front entry I painted last week. Now all I need to do is put on the last few coats of floor finish.

Bought the base / shoe to put upstairs. Get this I can buy the 60 feet I need for $54 by the linear foot. Or I could buy a contractor pack (ten 12' sticks) of the same thing for $54.95. I bought the 120 feet.

I also caulked the edges of the stairs. I hope to paint them tomorrow and install the new carpet runner next week.

Bought 6 calla lilly bulbs this morning. Cleaned 6 pots when I got home so I could get them started in the green house. They'll be transplanted into the backyard flower bed in 6-8 weeks.

Applied chelated iron to all the seedlings.

Fed the cattle & put out hay.

They truly are!!! I gave one to Mrs. Ranch back in the early 90's that was a drop-dead gorgeous in various shades of purple that lasted for 10+ yrs. We'd still have it if it weren’t for me being offshore when a early winter storm hit. I lost all my Plumeria to that storm as well.

Raked out the leaves from the asparagus bed & the rock area around it. Applied fertilizer & watered it in. It is now ready to be mulched.

Fertilized all the trees & flowerbeds. Ready for mulch.

Ripped down some base molding to make really tall shoe molding for where carpet has been removed. Painted the first coat on the stairs and the shoe molding. Now that the stairs are a lite colour they really show the abuse they've taken over the last 90 years. I'll have to fill several dozen holes and put at least two more coats on before putting in the carpet stair runner.

Parent brag too. Today we got the letter that our daughter was accepted into the local gifted school. I am expecting / hoping that this will reduce the amount I am on the phone with and emailing her teachers and principal fighting for the instruction she needs. I did manage to get her into a second grade class for reading - she's in kindergarten.

Made a pot of vegetable/beef/barley soup out of the leftover pot roast. Picked a head of cabbage to add to it.

Made some homemade gravy for the dogs as well.

Built a 2.5' support cage for the 'Texas Star' which hopefully will help keep the wind from breaking the stalks off at the base.

Watered the starter flats in the greenhouse. Everything is coming along nicely.

Made rolled-wheat bread.

Did the maintenance/backups on all the computers.

The water well that services the home site has been temperamental lately & I was unable to correct the problem, so we had to call in the professionals. They replaced the controller & the solenoid. I ops checked by watering the garden using all 4 circuits at the same time for 45 minutes. Works good again, so I'm glad I didn't have to haul water from one of the other wells here.

Fed the cattle.

Continued cleaning/prepping the garden for spring..

Watered the starter flats & 1/2 the ferns in the greenhouse.

Did the maintenance on the weather station. I disassembled it & cleaned it with bleach, replaced the batteries & added pieces of screen to keep the spiders out of the rain gauge (their web/egg sacks are a pain).

Cleaned & refilled the bird feeders. BTW, the owls are back again, so hopefully we'll have babies again this year (and a varmint-free garden too)!!!!

Spent the last 2 days puttering around the house... Today I cleaned the grills. The kettle was easy, but the gasser took most of the day. I field stripped it & did a real thorough cleaning job as I have some parts on order that should be here next week. Replacing the heat deflectors, the ignition system, flavorizer bars & the grates. Also removed, cleaned & painted the aluminium end-caps as they had some corrosion. I'll start reassembling it tomorrow.

Watered everything in the greenhouse.

Wiped the gas grill down with mineral oil (helps prevent corrosion) & reinstalled the end caps.

Replaced the water filter in the well house & refilled the salt in the water softener system.

Trimmed the lower leaves off the brussel sprouts in the garden... they look to be about 1-2 weeks away from harvest. Then did some more weeding.

Put out another suet block for the birds.

3 deg F when I woke up. Up to 15 F now.

Finished filling nail holes on the steps. Painted another coat on the steps - I think two more coats and I can put the carpet runner down.

Made a big pot of venison stew for dinner.

Continued weeding the garden. I plan on planting the seed potatoes next week.

Made a loaf of Italian bread & a small loaf of garlic bread (to go along with tonight's pasta supper).

Watered all the trees, the front/side flowerbeds & the asparagus bed.
