More rain. More thunder. More staying up late because the dog is a wimp. Weather radar makes it look like this will last another 30 minutes.

Took my Jeep in for a new battery.

Harvested 12 spaghetti squash & 2 butternut squash. I then washed them in a mild bleach solution & allowed then to dry before putting them in storage.

I think I just wrote this.

It's raining again. There's thunder and lightning again. The dog is going off again. So I'm staying up past my bed time again.

Started my day off by killing a cottonmouth on the back porch, that was in the process of eating one of our 'pet' toads. Then I had to hose the guts off of everything. I hate snakes...

Made bread.

Clay barred half of my Jeep & then applied Rejex Polymer Coating. I'll finish it up as I have time...

I hate snakes with a passion, even though I know I have fewer rats/mice around the house/barn because of them.Cottonmouths are another story.I tried shooting one in the pond the other day,but he was gone before I could get a shot.I have seen/killed the largest cooper heads this past year around the house.

Dropped off a donation at the L.U.C.I.E. Project & said 'hi' to the dogs. Then did the weekly shopping, picked up our prescriptions & ranch fuel.

Harvested another 7 cantaloupe, 1 for us & the rest for our mail lady. Also picked 3 cucumbers to give to her for her husband.

Finished clay-barring & applying Rejex Polymer Coating on my Jeep... it hasn't looked that good since it came off the assembly line, LOL!!! Next week I'll do Mrs. Ranch's Jeep... her's is a black metallic so it should really have depth when it's done.

The jet stream must be stuck. We got another inch of rain overnight.

Kid birthday party yesterday. Cleaned up the backyard. Trimmed the garden. Picked the first handful of red raspberries.

Today I added a wood mulch eating fungus to my mulched community garden. Then I finished the pole bean trellises.

Still need to mow the lawn and work on cleaning out the basement.

I mowed the lawn. Then cleaned the windows in the kitchen. Then the windows made the microwave look bad, then the stove looked bad, then the cabinet doors looked bad. I stopped when I used up that roll of paper towels and almost an inch of the windex bottle.

I fixed the loose hing pin on the back gate. It was creeping up and out of the lower capture. I drilled and tapped a hole in the bottom of the hing pin then fitted a 8-32 screw in it with a washer. Now the hing pin will have to pull up past a washer to escape from the bottom hing capture (not a true hing barrel but plays the same role.

I hope to add some waterproofing to the basement walls soon. Anyone have experience with the paint on masonry waterproofers?

Made bread.

Watered hanging baskets & porch pots.

Made a batch of our version of Spanish rice.

Picked a 5 gal. bucket of jalapenos for dehydrating (140 fit in the dehydrator quite nicely), we hope they don't curl...

We're hoping that we can stretch out the harvest for exactly that purpose, LOL!!! Both of us can eat stuffed japs for breakfast!!! We're hoping that they don't curl during the dehydration process, we have probably 4 or 5 more buckets worth of them ready to go this year.

The Japs are finished dehydrating & they are 'curled'... We're doing a rehydrating test on one of them.

Put out a new seed block for the red birds & woodpeckers.

Treated the fire ant mounds in the yard again.

Received 0.17" of rain.

Kid in the ER. 2 year old fell off a chair, hit her head, and went limp for a few seconds. CT scan, hours of waiting... At least they take things like this seriously and my wife and kid were moved right back to a room and not left out in the waiting area for hours.

Any update? How did the CT scan go? Hoping it's nothing to serious.

Picked another bucket of jalapenos & diced them up (that's a lot of dicing, LOL!!!). These will be put in the dehydrator & used for when I make pinto beans. In a test, 5 fresh japs weighed 180 grams & 18 grams when dried, so I know how much to add to the beans when I use them later. Here's enough to do 2 batches of pinto beans:

Harvested some kale and a leek. Total 5.8 lbs. Leeks are looking good out there.

Thunderstorm just rolled over. Ignored this tornado warning. Well kind of ignored it. We were covered in it but the storm line was to the SE of us and moving farther SE. They're getting twitchy in issuing tornado warnings.

Water, lots of water. The garden and flowers and even the front lawn. We haven't had a good rain in a while now and it's been in the low to mid 90's most all week.
