Indoor bonsai?

I found, buried in a drawer a 'min bonsai kit'. I have no idea if the seeds are even viable, but I am giving it a chance. I have contemplated purchasing a redwood sapling and trying to work with it. They have a couple of places here in Cali that you can purchase them.

I have also been told jade does well as a bonsai. There is an estate called Filola just outside San Francisco that has just about everything as a bonsai. I have some pictures of the gardens ...

Actually the kit you mention is excatly why I am kind of interested, I found a kit in some of my grandmothers stuff but it looks like it must not have worked.

One fun thing to do, is when you go for a walk, look at the rocks around you. See if you can envision it as landscape for a bonsai. I have a bit of a rock collection that I have collected with that in mind. I am hoping that my pygmy date palm seeds will germinate, I am thinking they are going to be my first attempt at a tropical theme bonsai / container tree. We shall see. love growing from seeds. It is so rewarding to see their little green heads poke out of the soil.
