The wood base for the old mailbox was 1/4" too wide for the new one, so I trimmed it with the circular saw to fit & pre-drilled the screw holes. Then cleaned & sprayed painted the base before I did the final assembly. It is now installed.

Fed the cattle.

Watered the spider plants & the hanging baskets, then put them in the greenhouse. Plugged in the heater & the oscillating fan as tomorrow night is suppose to be 33 degrees.

Started a loaf of sourdough bread.

Well the cold front has arrived, windy as heck too. Its up to 56 degrees right now, only due to it being sunny. Tonight is suppose to be a chilly 33.

Finished the loaf of sourdough bread.

Did the weekly shopping.

Took the truck in to have the batteries replaced & then I stopped to topped off the fuel tank.

Made a German chocolate cake with pecan/coconut frosting for our neighbors.

Watered the plants in the greenhouse.

It's in the mid-50s & drizzling (0.09") here this morning... looks like it's going to be an ugly day.

Went to the lumber store in LaGrange to get the pressure-treated wood for the new sign as the formed lettering arrived yesterday.

Cut, shaped, sanded & painted wood dowels for new handles for the leather fly swatters.

Fed the cattle.

Sprayed the final coat of paint on the stars for the new sign & also the handles for the fly swatters.

Watered everything in the greenhouse.

Worked on the new ranch sign. Got some of the pieces cut to length, shaped & sanded.

We're getting a light rain here...

Continued working on the new ranch sign. Applied the adhesive & clamped the boards, then screwed the vertical braces in place so I can mark & drill the holes for the carriage bolts. After installing the carriage bolts, put more clamps on to take some of the warps out... I'll now let it sit for a week to fully cure before I cut the sign to it's final shape.

Fed the cattle.

It's in the mid-50s here, with a strong north wind...

Put out another roll of hay for the cattle. A smart man would have done it yesterday...

Liberally applied 'Lexol' leather conditioner & then some black shoe polish to the leather fly swatter heads in preparation for installing the new handles. Afterwards I attacked the heads to the handles & will let it cure for a couple of days.

Fed the cattle.

Help Mrs. Ranch clean the house.

Watered the plants in the greenhouse.

It's starting to drizzle (0.07").

The 'grand kids' came to pick up their Christmas cookies & to open their gifts. Life is good.

Fed the cattle.

Moved the new sign to the garage for final layout & cutting. Got it cut to the rough shape before quitting time.

The rain started around 1330 hrs here (0.33" thus far).

Still have a drizzling rain here (0.48" thus far).

Prepped a pork pot roast for supper tonight.

Finished the final shaping of the new ranch sign & pre-drilled the holes for the mounting hardware (eye hooks). Almost ready for primer...
